JEFFREY LONG PAINTINGS 1970-2020 This monograph, seven years in the making, presents five decades of my life’s work. The introduction, interview with the artist, and opening four-section essay is by the art historian, critic and author Robert Atkins. Emphasizing a personal perspective, there are four essays by artist, friend and colleague, David Maxim. These draw connections between our wilderness expeditions and my art. Additionally, author and environmental activist Kenneth Brower contributes a four-part essay on that aspect of my work which references nature. The book shows a cross section of fifty years of paintings and drawings in a diversity of approaches. Following the essays section, the art is laid out chronologically decade by decade from New England to California to New York and back to California.
